welcomed Legatees, Service Personnel, Visitors
to another action-packed social day
Golf started early with over 70 keen participants. Marlena Jeffery, with Pam Barker, Noela McMurray & Beverley Clayton teeing off just before Major General Michael Jeffery, Organiser David Farthing, BGC Patron Don Barsby and Club Captain David Stanley. Close behind was Guest of Honour, Commodore, His Honour Terry Cole playing with President, Ian McKenzie, Brian Lamb & Frank Eggert.
The tried and tested routine proved successful again as Geoffrey Hammond mustered his clan/merry men to dispense hospitality at MASH 2576 at the 5th green. Uniform of the day was Hawaiian shirts, the brighter the better! The team cheerfully dispensed icy cool drinks of every variety with sandwiches, freshly prepared just prior to each team's arrival. Welcome guests at the tent were Gizelle & Scarlet Hammond bedecked in their multi-coloured frilly doggie coats.
Everyone was most generous with over $1300 raised from the raffle.
Unofficial competitions were: the hat with the most character, nominees: Frank Stening, Ian McKenzie & David Stanley - a triple tie! Then the most colourful golfing shirt, nominees: David Farthing, Michael Jeffery, Graham Gates - another triple tie!
Drinks on the terrace.
At sunset the bugle sounded. Jo Morrice read the ode. Michael Fitzgerald with Pip Smith, John Cummins & Austen Anderson performed the Flag Ceremony.
